your destination

Study your destination before you go, it will save you time and make your travel experience more enjoyable.
Its society, beliefs and natural environment may differ from your own country. Learn about the people and             be sensitive to their differences. If you don't speak the language, learning basic phases is a good idea,                  such as
SA BAI DEE     = How are you
                                                        KOP JAI
          = Thank you
                                                        LA KONE
        = Bye Bye

Be careful, Law in your own country may difference from Laos, and may not make immune to the laws of                 Laos. When you step off the plane, its laws apply to you.

                                    - Drug-related offences may result in execution or life sentences
                                    - Sex relation with Lao girls will be penalized by USD5,000

Healthy

Consult your doctor or travel health specialist before you travel and discuss how to manage any illness that                 you may have, your vaccination requirements and whether you should take medication to prevent malaria .

Disease risks can vary between regions within a country. You should check with local sources before                travelling in remote area.

HINTS

Some serious diseases have no vaccine or cure. HIV/AIDS can spread through sex, skin puncture such as tattooing and body-piercing or medical procedure, including unsterile surgery, injections, dental procedure and blood transfusion.

Take measures to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes (especially in the early rainy season in Khone Island area, mosquitoes will not disturb you too much in winter and summer season). Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing that covers your arms and legs and regularly apply an insect repellent which contains "DEET" or herb. Yellow fever, dengue fever and malaria are common diseases in many tropical countries.

In the event of dreaded "tourist gut", don't panic! What else can the intrepid traveller expect? Take interix or immodium. Re-hydrate yourself frenquently, eat rice, mature bananas and drink some sweet soft dring " 7up , Sprite or Pepsi " Avoid spicy dishes (not always easy).
Snake, Scorpion bite ect.. We know it's painful but very rarely fatal, check out the opening hour of your nearest medical dispensary.
Mosquitos bites, beware the females. Paludism or dengue fever is waiting to pounce. There is no miraculous remedy but it will pass. Keep covered., use a good repellent and a mosquitoes screen and everything should be fine. It is easily dianosed and well taken care of in Vientiane.
